Obama: Bury the POW excuse once and for all

Sun Aug 24, 2008 at 02:52:23 PM PDT

I have an idea: it's about time the Obama campaign made an ad that destroyed, once and for all, the POW excuse of the Mc Cain campaign.

Yes, we can!

CofCC Olympics Reporting: Like sitting at the Grand Canyon with a paper bag over your head...

Sun Aug 10, 2008 at 10:21:51 AM PDT

I don't know why - boredom? - but I was surfing the net and happened upon the infamous racist Council of Conservative Citizens website.

That they have ties to the Republican party is quite well known, Republicans from John Ashcroft to Trent Lott have regularly genuflected before these racists.

What are these racists up to nowadays?

How is George W. Bush f&ck!ng the US different than John Edwards cheating on his wife?

Fri Aug 08, 2008 at 10:19:33 PM PDT

I saw the wall-to-wall coverage of the gasping, breathless John Edwards had a woman on the side while he was married etc. etc. etc., and I thought...

Really?

And this gets this much coverage because of what???

I mean...I mean...   we have this dictator like guy called George W. Bush

Oh, PLEASE let McCain's VP choice be Carly Fiorina!

Vatican concession to George Carlin: "T___" comes off list?

Wed Jun 25, 2008 at 12:55:54 PM PDT

Note: this diary contains the "T word." If you're offended by that, swtich off to something else...

From the UK comes the news, "Vatican approves breast-feeding pictures of Virgin Mary."

I have to think this is a nod to the great influence of George Carlin...

McCain's Record: Check it yourself on the NY Times!

Sun Jun 22, 2008 at 07:26:17 AM PDT

One BIG difference between 2004 and 2008 has largely gone unnoticed: in 2004 "Times Select" limited one's access to past articles in the NY Times data base, but now...now, we can check out any kind of minutiae on McCain, going back more than 20 years, the good, the bad, and the ugly ugly ugly...

Look, folks, we've painted McCain as Bush!

Tue Jun 17, 2008 at 06:08:31 AM PDT

I was scared to wade into this article in today's NY Times by Elisabeth Bumiller.  I mean, next to Adam Nagourney, her reporting is often riven with concern trolldom, and the title of the article, "How Close McCain Is to Bush Depends on the Issue," sounds pretty concern trollish....yet...

Little noticed endorser of Obama: Bernanke?

Tue Jun 03, 2008 at 01:04:55 PM PDT

Is it just a coincidence that Ben Bernanke has finally started to come out in favor of a strong dollar today?

I think not.

Get prepared for a real bull market when Obama takes office in January...

NYT Op-Ed: Obama is an apostate Muslim!

Mon May 12, 2008 at 05:57:56 AM PDT

The NYT, proving yet again that it's the most "liberal" paper of the whole "liberal" media, produces the opposite meme of "Obama is the Hamas candidate."

Yes, folks, it's "Obama is an apostate Muslim!" and therefore Hamas won't ever trust him! You can't make this up!

Hadley *didn't* "misspeak" Nepal/Tibet mixup.

Wed Apr 16, 2008 at 06:00:55 AM PDT

The dialog was ridiculed far and wide in the blogosphere, showing how inept Bush regime toadies were.  Bush regime national security adviser Stephen Hadley "mixed up" Nepal and Tibet during an interview with George Stephanopolous on Sunday.

But was it a mistake?

What nobody's mentioned much about Tibet: there's likely ores in them thar Himalayas...

Fri Apr 11, 2008 at 07:44:45 AM PDT

So the Dalai Lama's in the US, the Chinese are claiming that theocracy is over and done within Tibet, and they also don't like a recent resolution passed by the US House of Representatives which asked China to end its crackdown on protests in Tibet and to enter directly into a dialogue with the Dalai Lama.

Now, here's the rest of the story...

Omigod Hillary: Greenspan should help fix economy??!!

THIS is what the rest of the world is seeing of the USA

Thu Mar 20, 2008 at 07:38:04 AM PDT

Forget about Obama's pastor.  Forget about Hillary's needle threading to get the nomination.

Forget even about the fact that John McCain is an absolute blithering idiot.

That's not what the rest of the world, or at least international business travelers and Europeans are seeing.

That's below the fold...

A White Guy's Open Letter to Clinton and Ferarro

Thu Mar 13, 2008 at 06:26:56 AM PDT

OK, I've head enough.

Mondale was boring, albeit a better candidate then Reagan, and I voted for Mondale-Ferarro because they weren't Reagan-Bush.  We could have done better, but there it is: reality.

But this latest thing with race?

Disgusting.

Obama: Bring out the Brass Knuckles. America wants you to.

Thu Mar 06, 2008 at 09:06:58 AM PDT

I realized that some of the shock and disgust we've seen from the Hillary Clinton camp was exactly what some Americans want to see.

So let's give it to them.

A modest proposal for saving energy & housing: Have a war on commuting!

Fri Feb 29, 2008 at 08:09:57 PM PDT

I'm writing this in Japan, and somewhere on this trip I had an epiphany.  Perhaps it was when I was told that some of my Japanese counterparts commute up to two hours a day. Each way. And then it hit me:

  • Commuting wastes time.
  • Long commutes takes away from family life.
  • Long commutes make for an inefficient work force.
  • Long commutes take ridiculously large amounts of energy.
  • Long commutes distort  housing prices.
  • Long commutes are openly hostile to the concept of community.
