Well, I was all set to hate Hillary, but damn, she shore did make me proud! I'm just a little younger than Hill, and I've spent my whole life trying to be what I was supposed to be & having that interfered with, by what they wanted me to be.
This woman was brave as any of the 300 Spartins! She gave the greatest speech to date of her life on behalf of her biggest rival!
She outdoes any macho hero of recent movie history. She took the bullet and she did a hell of a death scene.
I am proud of her and I know she will go on to be our new Ted Kennedy.
time, and aids to Clinton, Edwards, and Obama all say that they are pretty certain that their candidates poop occasionally.
I know, this is really sensational news. Who, among us could have imagined such a thing?
Given their records, and the fact that they've had multiple opportunities to divulge this information themselves, I think we will hear a huge public outcry. And, no doubt, this bombshell will dominate the news cycle and the media echo chamber until none of the candidates is left unscathed.
I was really excited when you said you were running for president.
Incredible! A black man, and a woman in the running for president for the first time in our country's history.
And you, so articulate, so passionate. Your speach at the dem convention blew me away. I felt like there was hope for my high-jacked country's future.
I was willing to throw my support behind you, even though, as a woman, I'd like to have a woman as president, before I die.
Kung Pao from China, how about some bird flu on the side?
O.K. so when the Washington Post has a front pager on how much tainted product comes from China, I believe the problem has escalated to the point of OMG shrieking.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/... In light of the pet food poisonings, and the antifreeze tainted cough syrups, the FDA is actually considering allowing China to import chickens. Do you remember those photos of Chinese processing plants where bird flu had been detected? I do.
I rarely write diaries because it’s a chore for me, but this really needs attention.
A few days ago a young soldier called my flower shop from Iraq and asked us to send flowers to his wife on their anniversary.
I asked him how long he'd been there. He said he wasn't allowed to say.
He sounded like a nice young man. He sounded sweet. He wanted to make sure the flowers got to her on their anniversary.
I assured him they would and wished him long life and peace.
He had his mother call the next day, just to verify that everything was lined up and would arrive the way he wanted.
She sounded vulnerable. She sounded nice. She sounded worried.
I asked her how long he would be in Iraq. She gave me the answer in
months and days. I told her I'd keep him in my prayers, and meant it.
Hello friends,
Today's the day. We've worked hard for months to finally have a chance at some representation in our government.
For so long now, we have been a people without representation. Now's our chance.
I hope those of you who can will help out at your local Democratic headquarters or your polling area or to help give seniors and the disadvantaged rides to the polls.
I know, most of you will be at your jobs, because most of you are struggling and juggling trying to keep all the balls in the air so your fragile individual eco-systems don't come crashing down around you.
It's 10:00AM in Nashville on Sunday morning November 5, 2006, and I just finished watching "Face the Nation".
Usually this right wing preacher with the huge "Corner Stone Ministries Church" comes on and preaches about how if you don't believe exactly what he does, you're going straight to hell.
Sorry about the Kerry thing, but it seems to be the only thing that's getting attention here.
I got my first polling call tonight. I was all excited. Thought I'd finally get to express my opinion in one of the polls and let them know I wasn't for Corker, but for Harold Ford, Jr.
But, it wasn't a legitimate poll. It was a push poll, and when I said I would be voting for Harold Ford, Jr. the recording went into a spiel about how he'd voted to
give the filthy terrorists the same rights as me.
Well, I hung up, and then called the Harold Ford campaign office in Nashville, and a very nice lady told me that this was not the first dirty trick the Corker folks had used.
She said they were calling the elderly voters and telling them that if they'd voted for Ford in the August primary, they didn't need to vote for him again on November 7th.
I just finished watching Keith's special comment this evening.
He started out strong with a basic: "Mr. Bush, you are a liar." I was intrigued as usual by his syncipated delivery and the powerful substance of the oration.
There was no way I couldn't nod in agreement.
No way I could leave the room to use the john.
It was as if each word were a rivet fastening me to my seat. Each phrase and thought a powerful weight that wouldn't let me go.
Somewhere near the end, as he spoke more and more plainly of Bush's lies, and Cheney's lies, and Rumsfeld's lies and their choice to put themselves and republican power above the good of our country and the constitution, I felt something else
Well, I just saw the Big Dog on Meet The Press, and I was
really impressed.
He was extremely articulate and on the ball.
He spoke about his "Global Initative" and then, went on
to list Terrorism and Global Warming as the two most
important issues facing the world today.
The contrast between Chris Wallace's interview, and
Tim Russert's interview was staggering.
Russert was as deferential as I've ever seen him.
Either he has a respect for the former President, or
Bill put the word out that he better behave.
Whatever the reason, we get a glimpse of the "Bill
Clinton" who was able to win two straight presidential
elections as a Dem, go thru a major scandal, and still
come out as one of the finest politicians of our age.
I watched ABC's "PT911" tonight so I would know exactly what I was attacking.
I have to say that I felt rage when I saw the eronious depictions of Sandy Berger, Madeline Albright, and President Clinton, but the thing that weirded me out, was
that every once in a while, "News 2" was present on the screen for a minute or so.
Why would an affliate station not just have channel 2?
Why "News 2?"
O.K., that pissed me off, because it looked like a News 2
presentation, ie, "Real News".
But what pissed me off enough to write this diary was that
they referred to "News 2 Nightline", "Could 911 have been prevented by the previous administration?"
Now I haven't seen this Nightline yet, but the feel and the smell I got from the whole thing made me sit up and take notice.
Did anyone else watch, and if so, did you experience a similar thing?
I'm feeling like someone just punched me in the stomach.
I found out this morning the cost of my "Citysearch" advertising will be increased 400% in 10 days.
I'm a tiny florist business, and this is devastating to me.
I can't help but wonder if it's a seismic ripple in reaction to the assumed death of net neutrality.
I've been advertising with "Citysearch" for several years, mainly because they were all I could afford, and I did get nominal results from them, which is more than I can say for some other forms of advertising I've tried.
The "citysearch man" I spoke to about the rate change
tried to tell me I'd be getting higher quality hits and
blah, blah, blah." I just keep saying: "That's 4 times as much per click. That's extortion!" Finally, his calm and friendly veneer went down, and he simply said:
"Hey, it's the prevailing rate." We're trying to model
ourselves after the yellow pages."
This is only my second diary in 2 years, but I'm very concerned we are all being hoodwinked again.
The news media and many folks here at DKos are focused on the amendment to ban gay marriage.
The pundets say that this is a ploy to fire up the base for
November. They say that there's no chance of it passing.
Well all that is true. The thing is, the nut in this shell game is the repeal of the estate tax scheduled to be voted on this week as well, and it's the real reason for the revival of the anti gay marriage amendment.
Andrea Mitchell, David Gregory, and Tucker Carlson were just on Hardball. They were all discussing what Bush would or wouldn't say or need to say in order to keep the Republican agenda going, sell Joe everyone on the war, blah, blah, etc.
The subject rolled around to Bush's poll numbers, ie, 39% for the NBC-WSJ poll. Matthews asked the "panel" what Bush's numbers needed to be for him to continue to govern.
Andrea Mitchell said she didn't think the repubs would lose that many senate seats because they were so well germandered. Tucker Carlson started to talk about the congressional seats and if dems gained control of the house...charges could be brought....they're even talking about Impea...
Matthews cut him off. Would not let him say impeachment on the show.
That indicates two things to me: Matthews is truly in Bushco's pocket, and even guys like Tucker Carlson know
that if the repubs didn't have a majority in congress, Bush would be impeached right now.
Evidently, the right wing agenda now involves not only taking power away from the courts, but redistrbuting it to the pharmacists.
Some pharmacists are refusing to dispense birth-control pills and the morning after pill, because of religious beliefs. I wonder if they're also refusing to dispense Viagra and so-called penis enlarging drugs.
