So I get a newsletter from WA,State Representative Liz Pike
18th Legislative District.
A large part of it this week was devoted to explaining why after a 130 Day session they need another 30 days to finish the peoples work. See the passage bellow. I wrote her:
Rep Pike,
You could raise taxes.5 % on the 250 richest Washingtonians and pay for teacher salary increases, class size reduction and road maintenance.
Her reply: On Fri, May 1, 2015 at 9:30 AM, Pike, Rep. Liz wrote:
Hi Ira. Have you ever worked for a poor person? Have you ever organized a charitable fundraiser and invited all poorer citizens to it? Why is it preferred to punish those in our communities who have gambled on their own intellect, ingenuity, and motivation and with their own financial capital to create businesses which in turn employ our citizens?
Be careful for what you wish for... killing the goose that lays the golden egg.
While we disagree, I do appreciate hearing from you.

My reply:
These people are not job creators. They are siphoning off wealth. People who have money to spend are job creators. These so called job creators wrecked the world economy. Implemented austerity protocols to strengthen their economic hold. They have re-purchased company stock to drive up their own wealth. Really?? Punish Job creators??
How can you drag out that unsubstantiated canard? When a few families control more wealth than millions, there is an imbalance. When I have to work three jobs to help my kids pay for college and then help support them afterwards because student debt takes 30% of their take home pay, you cannot actually expect me to be concerned that $billionaires and corporations who offshore their wealth, rather than pay their fair taxes to support the USA will be negatively effected by even a 5% increase in income tax?
Germany, France and England all provide subsidized college education. They see the National imperative to have a highly educated, unionized, well paid citizenry as a National concern. How can the USA compete if we saddle our youth with high debt and constantly cutting all public education?
I thank you for your reply, but you are out of touch with a majority of average people in our country.
By the way, I have worked for poor people. I baby sat their kids while they were away working their 2nd job at minimum wage. I worked for poor people volunteering to serve them food and boxing up groceries at a food bank. I work for poor people every day as a class room teacher. You Rep. Pike work for poor people too.
